David Zaslav Made a $68 Million Offer for Mohawk Day Camp

David Zaslav, with nearly $60 million from his latest Warner Bros. Discovery stock sale burning a hole in his pocket, apparently made a stalking-horse bid to buy the Mohawk Day Camp in White Plains.

According to New Jersey federal bankruptcy-court filings that were posted last week, and which were first reported by Bloomberg Law, Zaslav’s Grandview Ventures put in a $68 million bid for the Westchester County summer camp, one of several in the Northeast owned by Simad Holdings. According to The Real Deal, Simad declared bankruptcy in June after defaulting on payments to the company’s Israeli bondholders the previous month, though the bankruptcy proceedings haven’t had an impact on the Mohawk’s day-to-day operations.

In a statement on the bid, Zaslav noted his three adult children previously attended the camp, which is nearly a century old and has a reputation as a top-tier “bus camp” for white-collar Manhattan families whose kids want the camp experience without the sleeping away from Mom and Dad part. (Per one redditor, for 2025, the rate was $12,000 for an eight-week session.) Zaslav called the offer “a personal family investment that reflects our lifelong belief that summer camp can be a wonderful part of a child’s growth.”

According to The Real Deal, Mohawk Day Camp is the crown jewel of the 30 Simad-owned summer camps, with an appraiser valuing the camp operation in 2025 at $85.8 million and a projected 2026 revenue of $22.85 million. Of course, Zaslav’s offer is merely setting the floor for a potential sale price, so he may not be in the summer-camp business at the end of the day. (The bankruptcy court, however, would have to green-light any winning bid.) But in the event that Zaslav is out of a job in the coming months, there are worse things than arranging zip-line adventures for the children of Sutton Place.
