After two decades in business, Oakshire Brewing is shutting down its brewery and taprooms, citing <a href="https://industrymovement.com/economic-output-rises-but-businesses-warn-of-rising-costs/” title=”Economic output rises, but businesses warn of rising costs”>rising costs, increased competition, the financial damage of COVID and changes in how people gather to eat and drink.
“This is painful news to share with the people who have made Oakshire a part of their lives,” the company said in an announcement.
Oakshire Commons in Springfield will serve its last customers on Sunday, Sept. 27. The Beer Hall in Northeast Portland will close after service on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
A final closing date has not been set for the Public House in Eugene. Oakshire said it is working with its food carts on the schedule and will share the date when it is settled.
“Our brewers will continue packaging the beer we have in tank,” the company said.
Oakshire said it “worked hard to adapt,” but concluded it cannot continue operating the business as a whole.
The company said its 20th anniversary party will still happen on Saturday, Oct. 3, and described it as a going-away party as well. “I hope you’ll join us to celebrate 20 years of great beer and time together, and to say goodbye,” the announcement said.
