Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The Steers Center for Global Real Assets at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business has appointed Kelly Sewell Nagel as the Steers Endowed Professor of the Practice in Real Estate and head of real estate, positioning her to lead the center’s expanding real estate vertical

In the newly expanded role, Nagel will lead the center’s real estate programming, strengthening connections between institutional real estate practice, academic learning, and Georgetown’s position in Washington, D.C. She will also help shape the Steers Center’s evolution as a practice-driven real assets program, contribute to its thought leadership, and prepare students for a rapidly changing industry.

“Kelly’s appointment is a very big step forward in executing our vision, and it sets the standard for the kind of leadership we’re bringing to Georgetown,” said Matthew Cypher, director of the Steers Center. “We’re building a faculty and curriculum that match the caliber of the industry we’re preparing students for across real estate, infrastructure, and energy.”

Nagel brings more than two decades of institutional real estate leadership to Georgetown, including overseeing investments for Aimco’s East Coast portfolio of more than 5,000 units and building a national residential platform within EDENS’ $6.8 billion portfolio. She also leads the advisory practice Residy and serves as a trustee of the Urban Land Institute.

“I’ve loved teaching at Georgetown for the past few years, so getting to do more of it and help build what comes next at Steers is really exciting,” said Nagel. “Our students need more than technical skills. They need the fundamentals and judgment to ask good questions, connect the dots, and know when something coming out of a financial model just doesn’t make sense.”

Nagel’s appointment is part of the Steers Center’s development of distinct verticals in real estate as well infrastructure and energy with plans to add full-time faculty as it expands its real assets curriculum.
