2A Cross St, Mosman has been reborn as a modern beauty. The price tag is $16.5m.

The long held Mosman home of one of Australia’s super directors, the late Andrew Turnbull, has been reborn as a modern beauty with a $16.5m price tag.

And the sales agent, Michael Coombs of Atlas, says he’s been “inundated” with interest. He also says that inquiry levels for many of his properties are up three-fold on six months ago, which is an encouraging sign for spring.

Last year the five-bedroom property home that Turnbull had owned for three decades sold for $8.1m to Bant Investments, having first come to market with $10m expectations.

And now 2a Cross St, in a blue-ribbon enclave, has been totally overhauled, maintaining its grand scale proportions but every room has been completely renovated.

    Every room has been renovated.

The home has incredible harbour views.

The wellness centre includes a gym, spa and infra-red sauna.

There is now a trophy kitchen with a butler’s pantry, a wellness centre with gym, spa and infra-red sauna, three living areas – and even the double garage has been given a makeover with an Epoxy resin double luxury floor.

Within 24 hours of launching, agent Michael Coombs, of Atlas, was inundated with inquiries.

“Six months ago we averaged 11 or 12 inquiries in the first 24 hours of launching a property, now we are averaging 30-32 and with this property we were inundated,” he said.

Cross St is a well-known address, close to the shops and near the oval but also quiet and number 2a is hidden and secure with 472sqm of floor space, three levels of accommodation and lots of sun.

    There are five bedrooms.

Records show Turnbull bought the solid double brick home for $2m in July, 1995.

He is the former chairman of Mt Isa Mines, chief executive of the shipping merchants Burns Philp, senior executive of GEC Australia and a super director in the 1980s sitting on numerous boards.

The home has a strong Mediterranean vibe, natural stone finishes throughout, luxury bathrooms, a rumpus room, a home office, balconies for entertaining and extensive parking.

It borders Sydney Harbour National Park and being elevated has sweeping panoramas over the water to the city and ocean beyond.
