Fox News said Thursday that it had parted ways with longtime anchor Maria Bartiromo, a vocal defender of President Donald Trump who hosted several financial news shows.

“We thank Maria for her work over the lasts 12½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,” a spokesperson said in a statement that did not elaborate further.

Bartiromo has been Fox Business Network’s global markets editor since joining it in 2014. She hosted “Mornings with Maria” and “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street” on Fox Business, while also anchoring “Sunday Morning Futures,” a business-focused show on Fox News Channel.

Bartiromo joined Fox from CNBC, where she hosted one of the network’s highest-profile programs, “Closing Bell,” and was the first person to report live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.

Bartiromo’s departure was “effective today,” said the Fox spokesperson.

Bartiromo built a reputation as a trailblazer for women in financial media and television broadcasting. She drew attention in media circles for taking a more openly conservative turn in her reporting after leaving CNBC, where her work had been largely apolitical.

Many of Trump’s Cabinet secretaries appeared regularly on her shows during both of his terms in office. Fox also regularly touted Bartiromo’s shows as ratings winners.

In 2021, Bartiromo’s comments and shows were cited as exhibits in a defamation lawsuit filed by thevoting machine maker Dominion Voting Systems against Fox News. Dominion alleged that the cable network operator had knowingly broadcast false claims that Dominion had rigged the 2020 presidential election.

Fox News and Dominion eventually settled the lawsuit in 2023 for $787 million.

During her nearly 21 years at CNBC, Bartiromo appeared regularly on national broadcast programs, including NBC’s “TODAY” and “Nightly News” during the 2007-2008 financial crisis.

Comcast, the parent company of NBC News, spun off CNBC in 2025.

Bartiromo did not immediately reply to an email seeking comment on her departure.

Bartiromo has not appeared on FBN’s air since Aug. 9, according to a review of archived episodes of her shows. Herbiography page and show pages had already been removed from Fox’s websites Thursday.

Bartiromo was one of the first financial journalists on cable TV whose influence extended beyond Wall Street.

Early in her career, Bartiromo had been dubbed the “Money Honey,” a nickname she later said she had misgivings about.

In the early 1990s, The Ramones’ Joey Ramone released a song titled “Maria Bartiromo.”

She also appeared in the 2010 film “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” where she played herself alongside Michael Douglas’ Gordon Gekko in a scene set at a fictional CNBC interview.
