‘The Roundup: Punishment’, ‘Gatao: The Last Stray’

EXCLUSIVE:Taiwan-based Money Entertainment Investment is partnering with South Korea’s B.A. Entertainment to develop a slate of co-production projects based on their IP, following the MOU between Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) and the latter signed in Busan last month.

B.A. Entertainment CEO Billy Acumen and head of global business, content division Kim Mi Ru are attending Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF), the film and series flagship event organised by TAICCA.

The Korean production company specialises in genre-driven storytelling, with The Roundup film franchise, The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil, and series Big Bet and Revenant among its credits.

Money Entertainment Investment is best known for its Gatao film franchise. Across five films, the gangster franchise has grossed more than $23.8m (NT$780m) at the Taiwan box office since 2015, making it one of the few homegrown commercial film brands in Taiwan to have lasted 10 years.

“Our collaboration with B.A. Entertainment represents an important step in expanding beyond the domestic market and building long-term international partnerships,” Red Chang, the creator of the Gatao film franchise, told Screen. He is executive director of Money Entertainment Investment and 1 Production Film.

Money Entertainment Investment is presenting a slate of new film titles at TCCF, including Gatao 3 and Pa Pa Go 2, as part of its IP development and international expansion initiatives.

Chang said that Gatao 3 will be the most international and have the highest production budget in the franchise. “We are planning to film in the US and Thailand, taking the entire Gatao franchise to the next level.”

He is also developing a new franchise with a sequel for Pa Pa Go. The gangster comedy grossed more than $2.8m (NT$91m), making it the second highest grossing local film this year so far (if Sunshine Women’s Choir, which opened on December 31, 2025, is counted as last year’s release).

Also on Money’s slate are Bad Girl, a romantic action comedy, and The Immortal Lives, a thriller drawn from Taiwanese folk religion, both in post-production; and Stock King, a stock market crime film now in production.
