BEAUMONT —BREAKING <a href="https://industrymovement.com/entertainment-news/” title=”Entertainment News”>NEWS VIDEO: Beaumont police say Patrick Brouchet, 65, is accused of murder in the shooting of Kandace Washington, 32, and while detectives and officers were walking him to a waiting patrol car for the ride to jail, he admitted to KFDM that he shot the victim, calling it an accident, saying he’s deeply sorry and apologizes to the family, but refusing to answer more questions, telling us he wanted to “talk with his attorney.”
Ofc. Rodrick Williams tells KFDM police responded to a victim of a shooting call Saturday, October 17 at about 9:00 p.m. in the 2500 block of North 10th Street.
Police made contact with 65-year-old Patrick Brouchet. The victim, 32-year-old Kandace Washington, was dead at the scene..
Brouchet was placed under arrest for murder. The victim’s relatives have been notified and the investigation is ongoing.
Officers brought Brouchet to the Beaumont Police Department for questioning, then walked him down the steps at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday for the ride to jail.
KFDM asked if he had anything to say about the shooting or to the victim’s family.
“My deepest sympathy goes out to the family,” Brouchet told KFDM.
We asked if he knew the victim.
“We were involved in a relationship,” answered Brouchet.
KFDM asked Brouchet why he shot the victim, if he was claiming he thought the victim was an intruder.
“Yes, there was an intruder issue,” said Brouchet.
KFDM wanted to know why he thought the victim was an intruder, and if the person had been with him prior to the shooting.
“Yes,” he replied.
We asked again if he had anything to say to the victims’ family.
“I’m deeply sorry this accident happened,” said Brouchet.
We wanted to know how it was an accident.
“I’d really want to speak to my attorney about that,” Brouchet told us. “I’m very sorry,” he added. “Everything goes out to the family, but like I say, it was an accident.”
KFDM asked if he would take everything back if he could change the outcome of what happened.
“I’d take everything back,” he said, as an officer was placing him in the patrol car for the ride to jail.
