Grant Ellis is gearing up for his second chance at finding love on the upcoming season of “The Bachelorette.“

Ellis, 30, was introduced on season 21 of “The Bachelorette” starring Jenn Tran but was eliminated before hometowns week.

“I want a family. I want to be happy. I want a wife. I want to be in love. I want that,” Grant told cameras in his “Bachelorette” exit interview. “I want to give everything to somebody, and I want them to give everything to me in return.”

After the episode aired, ABC swiftly announced that he’d be the leading man of season 29 of “The Bachelor.”

Here’s what to know about Grant and his season of “The Bachelor.”

Grant is a former pro basketball player and day trader based in Houston

Grant, who’s originally from New Jersey, is a former Iona College student-athlete.

Grant was a professional basketball player overseas, playing in Puerto Rico, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. However, his career ended after an unspecified injury. Now, he lives in Houston and trades stocks.

Outside his job, Grant keeps busy by working out, supporting the LA Lakers, going bowling, and singing at karaoke. One of his goals is to visit every country in his lifetime, and he already made some headway on “The Bachelorette,” traveling to Australia and New Zealand.

Grant’s charm and sincerity made him a standout on season 21 of ‘The Bachelorette’

While appearing on an episode of the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast, released in July, Grant revealed that he ended up on “The Bachelorette” after his mom signed him up.

Prior to the reality TV show, Grant was in a seven-year relationship with his college girlfriend. Grant said they mutually ended their relationship after growing apart. After his mom watched “The Golden Bachelor,” she decided to sign her son up for ‘The Bachelorette.”

He avoided the drama of Jenn’s season of “The Bachelorette” and focused on deepening his connection with her. It paid off during week five when he finally got a one-on-one date.

“I always feel at ease when I’m with Grant,” Jenn said on the show. “That spark is definitely there. He’s always being intentional with where he’s at with me and so open with his feelings that it makes me comfortable.”

On their date, Grant opened up about his personal life and said that his childhood was impacted by his dad, who was an addict for 30 years. Prior to “The Bachelorette,” his dad got fired from his job and checked into rehab. They’ve since reconnected and Grant’s dad is nearly two months sober. Because of his experience, Grant said he’s determined to be the man that his father wasn’t.

During week six, Grant told Jenn that he was falling in love with her and could see himself being with her for the rest of his life. When he was eliminated during the rose ceremony, he was devastated and told the cameras he felt “empty.”

“I did not think that was going to happen tonight,” he said.

Grant’s season of ‘The Bachelor’ premieres sometime in 2025

The exact release date hasn’t been announced yet, but the show is confirmed to return to ABC in 2025. New seasons of “The Bachelor” typically premiere in January.

“As the Bachelor, Ellis is eager to embark on a journey filled with romance, adventure, and genuine connections,” his official ABC bio reads. “He hopes to find a partner who shares his values of loyalty, humor and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.”
